The Game and The Robin Hood Project

The Game a.k.a Jayceon Taylor

The menacing looking guy above appears to have a soft spot...if you troll and spend an abundant amount of unnecessary time on Instagram (as I do) you may be aware of his philanthropic efforts to give away $1,000,000 to random individuals.  The Game is best known as a West Coast rapper but has done a couple of movies and currently has a TV show on VH1 called "Marrying The Game".  A show about his current relationship with long time girlfriend and mother of two children.

The West Coast rapper started the Robin Hood Project campaign about 2 weeks ago while in Australia documenting his givens on Instagram with brief captions of who the people are and the amount he gave.  The recipient's range from children, homeless people, freelance artist, and two of the most heart wrenching stories of mothers who lost their children.  Marquia (last name unknown) lost her six year old daughter "Tiana Ricks" to gun violence.  The young child was with her father in Moreno Valley at the time when a man approached and opened fire wounding both Tiana and father.  Later that night Tiana passed away.  The Game heard about the story and reached out to Marquia and transferred $10,000 to help with funeral cost.

His most recent efforts to help has caught the attention of another well know hip hop artist "Drake".  Ana Angel, a mother of 5, while at work, received news that would devastate any person (parent or not).  Ana's boss informed her that her home had burnt down with her 5 children and boyfriend still inside and no one survived. Per The Game's post on Instagram "I was reading the story and just happened to be on the phone with Drake @Champagnepapi and told him about it so he offered to help".  Together on behalf of The Robin Hood Project they donated $20,000 ($10,000 each)  with an additional $2,500 given by Marrying the Game producers to help cover funeral arrangements and purchase a vehicle.  It was said when she found out the news she frantically rode her bike back to where her home once stood.

The news and media outlets have always been geared toward showcasing the negative or embarrassing moments of celebrities or entertainers.  So it is very refreshing to hear and see the good deeds done by people who care about others.  He hasn't stated what prompted him to begin this project but it is good enough that it was in his heart to do!
